05.08.10 – Temppeliaukio Kirkko (Rock Church) is probably my most favorite attraction in Helsinki. It’s a beautiful Lutheran (the official religion of Finland, no separation of church and state here) church built deep into a granite hill in the Töölö neighborhood of Helsinki, a couple of blocks from my current apartment. It was designed by two Finnish brothers/architects, Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen. I think it’s also interesting, their last name literally translates to “Finnish” as in Finnish person. Max was with me and helped photograph using my Canon DSLR.
