12.03.11 – The winters last long in Finland but every day you can feel spring approaching. The days are getting longer, the temperatures are slowly but steadily climbing and the white canvas of snow is starting to melt away. More and more color is making its way into my world

It’s an interesting time of year to be travelling, as I do, between the UK and Finland. In the UK, the grass is green, the flowers are flowering… In Finland, as I witnessed just this weekend (http://telefinn.blogspot.com/2011/03/spring-has-sprung.html), spring as I know it is still some way off!
Once again, great pictures, Tom!
That’s cute, living a seal’s life… I was just thinking how wonderful it is to live in a place with dramatic seasons. Winters can be tough and long, but when spring comes it is a real joy.
Nicely done, Tom. The photographic transition from ice to thaw is very nice!!
seems like only yesterday you were focused on a black and white world to photograph. the colors seem all the more brilliant. and now that the ice is going, are you thinking, rock climb?
Not rock climbing but last summer we called it “living a seals life.” Swim in the cold water and then climb onto the warm rocks to warm in the sun.
that sounds very good at the moment. thanks for a late afternoon smile.
