18.10.10 – There’s good news and bad news regarding the food offerings in Helsinki. The good news is I’m losing weight. The bad news is there aren’t many good restaurants or stores to buy the types of food I’m used to. Ok, so where I left, Portland, Oregon, was a great place for food. There were all types of restaurants and a wide variety of stores, everything from Trader Joes to Whole Foods, where you could find almost everything imaginable. Most cities would pale in comparison.
Not only are there very few options but it’s also very expensive. If you plan on eating out, you can expect to pay 8-10€. Sure you can hit McDonalds for a little less than 7€ but who wants McDonalds? To be honest, I do sometimes 😉 Even the cheaper ethnic food, like kebab restaurants, are pretty nasty tasting. That’s pretty bad when the cheap ethnic food sucks!
Oh well, I have a place now so I guess I’ll be cooking in more often 🙂
